Swiss Cottage Cleaner is committed to conducting its business with integrity, fairness, and respect for human rights. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and exploitation in our operations and throughout our supply chains.
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not knowingly engage with any individual, organisation, or supplier involved in practices that abuse or exploit workers. Our expectations are clearly communicated to our employees, contractors, and suppliers, and compliance with these expectations is a condition of working with Swiss Cottage Cleaner.
This commitment extends to all aspects of our business, including recruitment, training, procurement, and service delivery. We aim to foster a culture where ethical behaviour and respect for human rights are at the core of our decision-making and daily activities.
We regularly review the nature of our operations and supply chains to identify areas where the risk of modern slavery may be higher. Particular attention is paid to sectors and regions that are globally recognised as carrying higher risks of exploitation, as well as to the use of temporary, agency, or subcontracted labour.
Before entering into relationships with new suppliers or contractors, we conduct due diligence designed to assess their ethical standards, labour practices, and compliance with applicable laws. Where risks are identified, we seek clarification, require corrective actions, or discontinue the relationship if necessary.
Suppliers are expected to uphold standards that are consistent with our zero-tolerance policy. This includes prohibiting forced labour, bonded labour, child labour, trafficking, and any practices that deny workers their basic rights and freedoms. We require suppliers to ensure that workers are employed voluntarily, paid fairly, and treated with dignity and respect.
We reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence of compliance from suppliers. These audits may review employment records, worker conditions, and relevant policies and procedures. Where non-compliance or potential exploitation is identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective measures within defined timeframes. If adequate improvement is not achieved, we may suspend or terminate the business relationship.
We recognise that awareness and understanding are critical in preventing modern slavery. Relevant staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, and contract management, receive training on recognising warning signs and responding to concerns. Our aim is to ensure that key decision-makers understand the risks of modern slavery and the responsibilities they hold in mitigating those risks.
We also encourage managers to discuss ethical practices within their teams, reinforcing our expectations regarding the treatment of workers across our operations and supply chain.
Swiss Cottage Cleaner encourages anyone who has concerns about potential modern slavery or exploitation connected to our business to report them without delay. Concerns can be raised internally through line managers or nominated senior personnel, who are responsible for escalating and handling such matters appropriately.
We are committed to ensuring that individuals who raise concerns in good faith are protected from retaliation or detrimental treatment. All reports will be taken seriously, handled sensitively, and investigated where appropriate. Where issues are identified, we will take prompt remedial action and, where required, cooperate with relevant authorities.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective, relevant, and aligned with legal requirements and best practice. As part of this review, we consider any incidents, audit findings, and new or emerging risks within our sector and supply chains.
We are committed to continuous improvement in our efforts to prevent modern slavery. This includes updating our policies, strengthening due diligence processes, enhancing supplier engagement, and improving training and awareness initiatives.
This statement has been approved by the leadership of Swiss Cottage Cleaner and reflects our ongoing commitment to upholding human rights and eliminating modern slavery in all its forms.
